about
In the USA, the wealthiest 1% owns more than the bottom 90%. In the UK, the wealthiest 1% owns 20-times more than the bottom 20%, and in Australia, the wealthiest 1% owns more than the bottom 70% of the population.
This inequity continues to worsen as figures show for the past few decades the rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer in those countries.
In the USA, workers have not seen real wages growth for over 40 years. The UK presently has its lowest wages growth in over 200 years, and Australia is currently has its worst wages growth rate in its history.
Why are politicians not addressing this? Because they are dependent on the donations from the wealthy. This is actually the definition of corruption - providing legislative favours to those who give you money.
Why are the newspapers not telling their loyal working-class readers that they are being ripped off? Because the newspaper owners are the rich - they are protecting their wealth by keeping quiet.
Clearly our version of democracy punishes the average worker and favours the rich. Big changes are required to make our Western capitalist model fairer for all. Let's do this. We get to have our say every approximately 4 years through the ballot box.
We must vote for those who pledge to change our present corrupt and inequitable system. It is actually in our hands.
Chorus
On and on and on we go,
See the pretty lights all aglow,
But don’t look too close, you know
just sing along,
The show must go on.
Verse
Like ants slaving tirelessly,
The bosses we try hard to please,
We get four weeks off to reconnect,
There’s a mortgage to pay
What more to expect?
Don’t ask why, you know,
Just work until you die, you know,
The rich they need more, you see,
Money only flows up
In a trickle down economy
Chorus
So, on and on and on we go,
See the pretty lights all aglow,
But don’t look too close, you know
just sing along,
The show must go on.
Verse
Page 3 has cuddly pets again,
Stops us asking difficult questions,
We mustn’t rock the boat you know,
There are things that we don’t need to know.
Big donations go to politicians,
To ensure they make the right decisions,
Our problems they pretend to see,
But the laws they make are not for you or me.
Chorus
So, on and on and on we go,
See the pretty lights all aglow,
But don’t look too close, you know
just sing along,
The show must go on.
Verse
And when the end is drawing near,
So many things still so unclear,
I may feel a bit empty inside,
But at least I’ll know,
I played my part in the show
I played my part in the show
I played my part in the show
I played my part in the show.
There are things we don’t need to know.
